A pizza joint that's both family- and after-hours friendly? Rarely do the two qualities commingle that well, but they do at the Deck, where parents and kids devour slices by day and late-night-munchie hunters stroll in by night. The 1,100-square-foot space sets prices markedly lower than its Hyde Park-area neighbors. So, if expensive sushi and martinis are not in your budget, come down to Earth and chow down at Deck. Locally owned by a group of Plant High alumni pals, Deck features a pizza shop with a covered patio, tables, four flat screen TVs and ceiling fans. Inside, an open kitchen, four more flat screens, a bar and booths accommodate around 25 diners. The mood is friendly and straight-up no-nonsense, and the menu steers clear of the gourmet flourishes trotted out by its competitors. On it are pizza by the pie and slice, calzones, strombolis and salads. Beer and wine are sold too.

Best New York Pie in Tampa
By sohoassociates on 10/01/2008
I read these reviews and it leaves me feeling a little disappointed in the individuals who obviously judge this great pizza place by way of late night visits. This wholesome restaurant is fun for the whole family and as anyone can see there are no reviews that negatively diminish this company during day and evening hours. We are not seeing ridicule from legitamte sources. The negativity that is being illegitimately vommitted forth here is being drummed up by the few after-hours individuals that show up a little more tanked then they should be and cause a scene that inadvertently backfires on them and leaves them feeling under achieved for the night. So, they come here and immaturely lash out at a great business and a great establishment with wonderful employees. The truth is, The Deck has awesome atmosphere, fantastic New York style pizza, friendly conversation, and a humorous and intelligent staff. You are guaranteed to have a good time unless of course you bring a bad time with you, because due to their ethics toward their customers they will not tolerate idiots; and unfortunately that leaves a few people feeling a little bitter. So, don't act like an idiot and you will have a wonderful experience. And stop trying to damage good businesses because someone made you act like an adult in public.

Great pizza and great people
By Tiusej1 on 05/25/2008
I recently moved into the SoHo area and have immediately fallen in love with The Deck. I ***************** slice every once in a while coming back from the Dubliner, but a solid late-night eating experience is not the only thing The Deck has to offer. After going there maybe twice, the owner, Terry, began to engage me conversationally. Everyone that works there makes you aware of how much they appreciate and respect their customers. Pizza is always prepared hot without any burning or skimping on each slice. I hightly recommend The Deck to anyone on any night. Convince them to deliver!
